Exactly why is it so hard to lose excess weight and
keep it all off? Just about everyone has heard that weight loss is merely a
matter of consuming less calories than we expend. That certainly sounds very
logical, but could it be really that easy?
For example, I put an intention of only eating
vegetables & fruits for a day or two, to counteract the recent 'junk' food
I have been enjoying. This is a good plan that practically guaranteed a
reduction in calorie consumption. However, a good plan doesn't always mean a
fairly easy execution.
I figured I'd be relatively safe going on a trip to the
health grocery. So my protect from high fat foods was down. When I got
eventually to the store, my sensibilities were assailed with a well meaning
clerk hawking some freshly made corned beef and cabbage. I possibly could
hardly resist the temptation. And this wasn't the finish from it. Once my
armour was breached, the temptation of tasty, 'health oriented' cookie samples
fought for my attention.
Once more, I capitulated. My normally strong stength
appeared to crumble. As soon as weakened, it seemed reasonable to just
continue. It's like this first drink for the recovering alcoholic.
I am in no way overweight, but occasionally my diet
gets beyond control and system.drawing.bitmap around my midsection gets a bit
more sizable than I am more comfortable with. Usually, times like they are a
great possibility to get just a little detoxification in, therefore i like to
give attention to vegetables & fruits for a day or two.
It has the dual aftereffect of decreasing my calorie
consumption. I had been also keeping the easy plan mentioned previously. Where
did things fail? Did I not need enough discipline? Did I lack willpower, or was
it another thing?
In retrospect, the challenge is apparently too little
preparation. I didn't use the energy of why. I want to explain. If the chips
were down, I didn't seem to be to have sufficient reason to keep discipline.
Perhaps you have had an identical experience? I rationalized with, "oh,
just a little won't hurt me". The simple truth is, once you begin down
that road, it could be hard to carefully turn back.
What would the right preparation maintain that case?
What's this power of why that What i'm saying is? A terrific way to fortify
perseverence with any strategy is to really write out why sticking with your
plan or obtaining your goal is important. It really is similar to stockpiling
ammunition. The weaponry, in cases like this, appears by means of a list.
With an extended set of reasons supporting the program
or the target, I would experienced far more reserves to draw on when my front
line defenses were being stressed. If the well meaning clerk was pouncing, I
will experienced a ready set of whys to fall back on. As the clerk was just
being nice and sounding really sensible, and yes it was a free of charge sample
in the end, my mind must have responded with my ready made set of why I will
not change from my plan.
That didn't happen because I never made such a list.
Whatever you want to accomplish in life, there are bound to be obstacles and
obstructions that just leap into your way to avoid or block you. They are the
times that you'll require your list. The list is your power. No list, no power.
When anyone sits right down to plan something or set an
objective, they desire a list to aid them during weak times. The longer the
list, the better. Whether or not one has to transport the list along in one's
pocket, it will probably be worth it. A set of about 50 reasons, while hard to
build, pays off in a significant way.
Imagine the clerk's surprise, had I pulled out my
convenient list and read it off for him. My armour wouldn't normally have been
pierced and the clerk could have had to go to more ready prey or risk getting
the spear of temptation blunted! No list, no power.
So, just how long is your list?
